Project Name: Online Credit Card Processing - ClearCommerce
Project Leader: Lorraine Rappaport
Report Date: 5.11.2001
Project URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/ccard

Accomplishments Past Period:
- Met with Sloan to discuss their SloanSpace project. Began to discuss
options
and issues for supporting the e-commerce activities that will be a part of
SloanSpace in the future.
- Met with Exodus and SevenSpace to explore outsourced hosting and monitoring
options.
- Learned that the upgrade to ClearCommerce version 4.1 has a price tag.
While
there is an additional one-time license cost, our annual maintenance costs
decrease. It's practically a wash for this year's budget. In the long run,
the pricing change should benefit us.
- Continued to nag First Data about the leased line installation. They have
not responded to us with an installation date. We have asked ClearCommerce to
exert whatever influence they have.
- Lorraine attended the spring ACUTA conference and shared information about
our initiatives with other universities. Most other schools are not actively
doing anything yet, but are beginning to get pressure to do something.

Goals for May:
- Sort out the new pricing associated with 4.1, get it shipped, and
installed.
Identify deltas between 4.1 and 3.8.4
- Get a date for leased line installation. First Data has clearly dropped the
ball multiple times on this.
- Determine next steps, if any, with Exodus and SevenSpace

Issues:
- The experience with First Data has been frustrating, time-consuming, and
most
importantly, has negatively impacted our schedule. We're not yet sure how far
the schedule will slip.
- SloanSpace will support Sloan clubs, who are interested in doing memberships
and event registrations online. We will need to decide if/how we can support
these clubs (and any other affiliated groups and enterprises) as part of our
model. There are significant financial and support issues to be considered.
We will continue conversations with the appropriate decision makers and
stakeholders this month.
