This Month's Accomplishments
- Gained approval from Kathryn Willmore and the system administrators (aka
Calendar Coordinators) for our planned 1.5 enhancements.
- Submitted the mockups of the redesigned "group management" process to
the Usability Group for their input.
- Decided to implement the 1.5 enhancements in two stages - one stage to
be complete by April 30 and the second by June 10. Modified project plan
accordingly.
- Implemented the following changes, successfully hitting the April 30
target date:
* Modified home page (includes increased font sizes,
change to traditional grid-style calendar display)
* Increased fonts on menu bar throughout calendar.
* Added a "preview" feature to the event edit function.
* Added "next day" and "previous day" navigation links to
the "today's events" screen.
- Met with Joe Coen and Lee Corbett of the Information Office to discuss
outreach and promotion of the calendar.
- Met with Kathy Cahill of the ATIC lab to discuss the design of the
text-only "manage events" page. The discussion was very productive and
went beyond this page to encompass some more wide-ranging accessibility
enhancements for the calendar. We agreed on a design for the manage events
page.
- Began work on the remaining 1.5 enhancements. These are:
* Change the group management process to make things
easier for both users and system administrators.
* Create a text-only version of the manage events page
so that users with text browsers or screen-readers can use
this function more easily.
- Contacted Rocklyn Clarke regarding transferring this system to the EAST
team during the summer.
Next Month's Plans
- Complete the coding work on the remaining 1.5 enhancements.
- Begin testing these enhancements.
- Think about further accessibility improvements.
- Meet with Rocklyn to discuss the EAST transition.
- Begin to review the system documentation in preparation for
the transfer to EAST.
Issues
- None this month.
