project name: casetracker 1.5
project leader: barbara goguen, oliver thomas
report date: november 1, 2000
submitted by: barbara goguen
url: http://web.mit.edu/tooltime/notebook/

accomplishments past period:
- conducted a casetracker 1.5 off-site project planning meeting on 10/24;
got valuable input from some key customers or would-be customers (lorraine
representing ntip tool discovery effort, jag from wcs, and craig from
academic computing support); still sorting through how best to organize and
make use of brainstormed data
- continued work on understanding current workflow patterns into and
through casetracker
- drafted new architecture diagram

goals for coming period:
- review and revise architecture diagram as needed
- draft object model
- get some elaboration from lorraine about ntip needs
- continue identifying workflow and business logic issues
- explore authentication solutions
- followup with ssit about their experiences using casetracker
- have more detailed conversations about available implementation resources
- move email and web enhancements from test into production
- decide whether casetracker should have a separate budget, and if so, what
that might look like. this is to followup on casetracker business plan
effort in october.

issues:
- keeping momentum when priorities shift daily is difficult

key learning:
- don't reserve room 407 in the student center for an off-site meeting, and
if you do, verify that they really will provide two flip charts.
- inviting others to participate in planning discussions is a good idea

team dynamics:
- all is well.
