Subject: Re: Re-ordering subfields
Virginia:
Re-ordering subfields in cataloging workforms has been identified as a
problem--the subfields in workforms always come out in alphabetic order.
(this is #168 on the 1995 enhancements survey, with a "not planned" response
so far). If you actually have a default workform which came with the system
in which it works, maybe Geac could explain it.
I believe re-ordering works in the regular MARC tables, though. (BTSD &
ATSD) When we first got Advance, we had problems with 440 subfield x always
filing to the end of the tag, even when entered in correct order before
subfield v. When subfield reordering was created for 440, the subfields
came out in correct order.
The setup looks like:
TAG AND SUBFIELD VALIDATION
Tag : 440
1) Description : SERIES STATEMENT/ADDED ENTRY - TITLE
2) Short Label :
3) Reorder Subfields : A
(A)ll
(N)on-Authority Only
Valid Subfields : ,6,a,n,p,v,x
4) Subfield :
Description :
Short Label :
5) Subfield Reordering and Combinations:
a,n,p,x,v
