Lissette,
I have primarily used 3Com NIC ethernet products at two campuses over the last 6 years with very good success. Their Laptop cards (PCMCIA) have been very high priced, but seem to finally be coming down. The quirk is usually in with the computer, not the ethernet card.

If you purchase in bulk, you should be able to get very good pricing. I would start with your regular vendors and ask them for bulk pricing, then shop around. One place we use for our 3Com cards here at St. Cloud State is http://www.allstarshop.com

Subject: Converting to Ethernet

Hi....Our campus is convertng over to Ethernet this coming Summer and I
just had a few questions:

What types of Ethernet cards work the best on all platforms?
Do they have any quirks?
Do you know of a vendor who sells them 'below retail'?
What are the most common Ethernet problems that you have run into?

I would appreciate as much of a response as I can get as I am starting to
research the pros and cons of Ethernet. Thanks!
