Technology Services Analyst
*Position Description
Bucknell University's Information Services & Resources department is
looking for an enthusiastic, self-directed professional to join us as a
Technology Services Analyst to provide prompt, high-quality
technology-based solutions to all segments of the campus community. This
individual will provide first-level computing and media support to faculty,
staff, and students through the Technology/Media Desk (telephone, email and
walk-up support service). The Technology Services Analyst will work closely
with customers in identifying their media and technology needs and provide
courteous, responsive service in meeting those needs.
Specific responsibilities include troubleshooting, resolving and/or
referring requests for assistance, supervising student consultants,
maintaining equipment, writing documentation, occasionally developing and
teaching microcomputer workshops, participating in the planning and
implementation of new services and procedures, and working on special
projects as needed. The position will provide technology and multimedia
expertise at the Technology/Media Desk and Courtyard, and will participate
in setting direction for those areas, contributing to their ongoing
evolution, vision and direction.
*Qualifications
The successful candidate must have strong written and oral communication
skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to customer service,
impressive organizational skills, and the ability to work with members of
the University community (faculty, staff, and students) who have diverse
technology skills. Adaptability, flexibility, a sense of humor, and the
ability to work without direct supervision in a collaborative work
environment, while functioning cooperatively and productively as a member
of a team, is critical. An enthusiasm for learning new media and software
tools, operating systems, and networking applications is essential.
A Bachelor's degree or significant relevant experience is required. A
minimum of one to two years of experience in direct media and/or computing
support in a higher education environment is preferred. A thorough
knowledge of Windows and/or Macintosh hardware, software, and operating
systems is a must; UNIX experience is a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft
Office, Internet applications and networked computing environments is also
required. Two years of experience in direct support of technology users is
desirable, as is teaching or presentation experience. The ability to lift
50 pounds and to walk up and down stairs is required. Some regular evening
and/or weekend hours will be required. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
*About the Organization
In August 1997 Bucknell University integrated its library and computing
organizations to form Information Services and Resources (ISR). ISR
focuses on strengthening natural areas of collaboration and creating
synergies among staff members. We strive to create an information-rich
environment for the campus, and enjoy a strong service reputation. ISR is
considered a strategic area in the university's strategic financial
plan. ISR is committed to supporting the professional development of its
approximately 93 staff members.
Bucknell is a highly selective, predominately undergraduate residential
university with strong liberal arts and professional programs. There are
approximately 3400 undergraduates and 200 master's degree students. The
campus is in a beautiful rural setting adjacent to the Susquehanna
River. Harrisburg and State College (home of Penn State University) are
about an hour away; New York, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and
Pittsburgh are approximately a three to four hours drive. The university
supports an active program of cultural events and opportunities for recreation.
