Unfortunately that is the way vendors think they can hold on to customers.
I received threatening remarks from Siemens during this process as well.
Considering our system is 15 years old and there hasn't been any software
upgrades in some time makes the threat a little hollow. It's true that if
there is a problem which requires a patch Continuant would not be able to
escalate to Siemens because they are not partners. The possibility of that
occurring is rather small.
