All the LED is for is the backlight, the picture itself still comes from
LCDs. Basically, LED displays use less power, generate less heat, and start
off with more uniform backlighting than older technologies. Only some
smartphones use 'real' LED displays, which actually use tiny little LEDs to
generate the picture and the light.
