Hello Everyone:
I'd like to thank Sheila for sending out the call for nominations to the Re=
sNet Board of Directors. I'd also like to thank Sheila for doing that as C=
hair of the Nominations Committee and past President of the Board, continui=
ng with her commitment to give back to the organization.
I'm writing today to encourage you to consider running or nominating someon=
e else for a position on the Board. I've been coming to the ResNet Symposi=
um (more recently the Student Technology Conference) since 1999 at Kent Sta=
te University. I have met many people, made many contacts and good friends=
, all of which helped me form the current environment at our institution. T=
his was made possible because of the networking at this wonderful conferenc=
e and the helpful topics coming over the ResNet list.
I've been a member of the Board as External Relations Director for the past=
two years and the experience and contacts I've made in the role have been =
very valuable for me.
The Board is a group of very dedicated volunteers who have decided to give =
back in a very visible way for the benefits they have received by attending=
the conference. Next year I step into the role of President and although =
I'm a little nervous about that, I know the work and experience I gain will=
help me in so many ways and allow me to continue to give back to the organ=
ization. It's also great exposure for your institution in many ways. I'm =
happy to say I know people from all over the world because of ResNet!
We are a very diverse group from many different locations, backgrounds and =
experience, but we manage to come together as a team to bring you the benef=
its of being associated with the ResNet organization. I know there are peo=
ple out there who have great experience they could bring to the table as a =
member of the Board and I'd like to encourage you to do just that.
Over the next few weeks, you'll see testimonials from some of the current B=
oard members to let you know what being on the Board means to them. I enco=
urage you to seek one of us out to talk about this great opportunity. We'd=
be happy to answer any questions you have.
