My last employ was a smaller school, but we supported whatever hardware
they brought. 1,000-ish students.
We had two full-time techs, an intern, and a working manager withing the
realm of 'people who fix student computers'. I'd guess that they spent 40%
of their time on student machines.
Based on that and a series of totally wild guesses on data that I never
saw, I would plan on spending an additional $100ish annually per student in
salary costs if you go down this route.
