At Bucknell our student assistants have worn name tags for years, for a few
reasons:
1. It helps to identify who should be in restricted areas, like behind
the desks;
2. It helps when they go across campus and walk into offices, or ask
questions at other desks, and staff can immediately identify them and
respond appropriately (esp when it is a student who is there to pick up a
computer or help them set up their email!); and
3. For both good reasons and bad, it is helpful for clients to know who
is helping them out. It wasn't just a random tech desk student who helped
them get their files off a corrupt USB key - it was Nadir, or Kelly, or Adam
