Please contact me (off-list if you'd like) if you are blocking p2p apps lik=
e BitTorrents and/or gnutella-like protocols.
DMCA complaints are KILLING me and bandwidth is being consumed at record ra=
tes. We are considering blocking these protocols, in hopes that numbers fo=
r both will improve, and would like to know what the student/customer respo=
nse has been. Alternatively, if you have blocked these services in the pa=
st and are no longer doing, why the reversal? For example, does fear of lyn=
ching have anything to do with it?
I absolutely loathe that I am forced to be the protector of the digital cop=
yright, so don't flame me for being the "man." Nor do I applaud thieves...=
if you come down on the moral duty side.
I wish that this could wait a couple of weeks for the conference, but it ca=
n't. Come to think of it, somebody's gotta do a BOF on this.
Thanks in advance, everyone.
