We currently get our programming from Cox Cable, which is delivered through
existing fiber/coax infrastructure on campus. Has anyone gotten their
programming from a local cable company and deliver it through IPTV to
housing?

I'm not involved with it, but we switched over to IPTV several years ago.
Students can rent an IPTV-to-TV converter for use on 'real' televisions.

Greetings,

I've been asked to see what other locations are doing in terms of CableTV
and related internet bandwidth for students.

We currently have a head-end structure with rigid coax between buildings and
service from DirecTV. The equipment in place allows us to distribute an
analog signal in standard definition. We are looking to upgrade our setup,
and are considering several options. Does anyone still have a head-end
structure? Do you get service from the internet or satellite? If by
internet, then how much bandwidth is this consuming? Do you offer HD
services to students? Do you distribute internally via ethernet or coax?

I assume others, like us, have seen a rise in internet offerings such as
NetFlix and Hulu for student entertainment. Has this caused a noticeable
increase in traffic? Does anyone shape this traffic, only allow it during
certain times, or is your bandwidth sufficient enough to handle the traffic?

Any comments or insights would be appreciated.

Thanks!
