Like I said, I'm not involved, but our infrastructure is pretty
standard: 100Mbit to the clients, with 1Gbit redundant fibers between
switches and the rest of the network. We do use have multicast set up for
dorm networks, so I think there's only one 'stream' of data traversing the
internal firewall. It might be one stream per channel being watched, I'm not
clear how the system works.
I do know that SD video is low-bandwidth (1-4Mbits/sec), 1080p video
compressed with h.264 is between 5-20mbits/sec... So even the worst-case
scenario should be well within the limits of a network where the switches
are uplinked via gigabit.
