Is there anyone out there that actually enforces a registration? i.e. do you dynamically protect your networks by firewalling users not registered? It seems most of the registration process is done if everyone plays along nicely with your registration systems. If a user picks an IP out of the blue and statically assigns it to their machine, how do you prevent them from gaining net access until they register?
I would be interested in example, information that would address this...I am struggling with these thoughts here.

Hello
We are fairly new to having internet connection in our residence halls.
As of now, our students do not have to register their computers when
they use the network connections. I am trying to find suggestion on how
to make the students register before they can us the network connection.
Something like when they connect through the network connection, they
would be automatically directed to the registration page before the
internet is accessible.
