A number of us at USD have been following the news stories and
discussions about Brilliant Digital on several list serves,
including this one, and the powers-that-be here are rather irate
at this company's presumption that they can utilize our bandwidth
for commercial purposes. We were wondering if any other
universities have given thought to individual or class action
lawsuits against Brilliant Digital.
Or is everyone's solution just to stop the protocol on your
campus? Luckily, with the absolutely lowest Packeteer priority,
Kazaa already receives almost no bandwidth on our campus. But I
would be interested to know if anyone already has decided how
they're going to handle this situation; or what alternatives are
being discussed on your campus.
