Hello.
We are use Dell KACE K1000 and it has been a great resource for us. It has an easy to use web interface and can be set up with different "organizations" to separate groups that wish to control their own areas. It maintains an inventory of computers and software and you can easily cross reference them.
We can push out software installs, updates, or run scripts to all computers or to specific groups. You can also set up a software repository that allows authenticated users to download the installers themselves is applicable.
It supports Windows, Mac OS, and Linux clients.
We have been using it for several years now. Over the last week we were able to quickly push out updates for Java and Adobe Flash/Reader to prevent the zero-day exploits that were being warned about. Updates are verified by KACE and then automatically downloaded to the appliance where we can then automatically or manually deploy them.
I’m not familiar with alternative products so I don't know what the cons of this would be compared to them. There aren't any cons compared to not having a solution. :D

I hope this helps.

Subject: Software Distribution Tools
Hello,
We plan to implement a tool by which to distribute software to our campus. We are interested to know if you all are using a tool and if so which one. Do you like it? Pros/Cons.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards,
