Greetings All it has been a while!!

I recently took a position away from Higher Ed, but still in education
(long story, will be happy to convey privately if you wish).... I am at
a residential campus but it is for troubled youth (boys).

I am a one-person shop and now doing it functions that at times are a bit
challenging to me.... hence this email for advice.... any suggestions or
thoughts would be appreciated.

we recently brought a new building online (network)... it is fed by a
Multimode Fiber connection from a Cisco Switch (3500 xl). The switch that
was ordered for the building (prior to my being hired) is a Meraki MS22P it
also has a Mulimode Fiber connection. I do like the Meraki switch, it was
a breeze to set up and I THOUGHT it was running well...until I set up the
three desktops that will be used by staff. (Residence will use Laptops
through access points connected to the Meraki switch). I needed to down
load some updates for Malware and A/V for these desktops and found it to be
painfully slow.... I logged into the Meraki console and and found that
is intermittently reporting a DNS Misconfiguration... I called Meraki
support yesterday and they had me change the fiber connection to another
gbic that was not in use on the Meraki switch.... although not as
frequent.... I am still seeing some reports of DNS Misconfig from the
Meraki switch. (before changing to the spare fiber connection, I was
seeing the issue about 20 minutes out of an hour...this morning I am seeing
it bounce in about 5 - 10 minutes out of an hour)

I welcome any thoughts on the cause or questions to help clarify the issue.
... the folks that connect to the Cisco switch... have not reported any
issues... I am leaning towards a problem with my fiber or this Meraki
switch....

Best Regards to the community
