Hi FPRC,
Our first meeting seems to have gone fairly well --- we went over where
money comes from, and where it goes, and discussed Senate's funds.
We essentially concluded, I think, that:
* UA Fresh Fund will be chiefly administered by the ASA, with Senate
approving allocations (a la Finboard)
* Senate Discretionary will focus on
* Committee initiatives & changes in budgetary needs
* Funding for unforeseeable (not just unforseen / un-prepared-for)
events by student groups (eg, an event in response to the Iran elections)
* Student group requests that don't quite meet Finboard
regulations, but are sufficiently awesome Senate thinks they should be
funded, generally because they benefit a huge portion of the student
body, or promote MIT's image in the broader world
Rebecca will hopefully send out the minutes to the members in a few
days, and then a day or two after that they will be posted for the public.
Somebody needs to write a draft section for our report. Would anyone be
willing or particularly interested in this section?
Also: How can we better publicize these (and other) funding sources?
