I recently installed the latest release of Ghostscript, 7.03, in
the ghostscript locker, and since it hasn't killed anyone yet it
seems safe to announce it.
Please note that this is a separate locker named "ghostscript", not the
GNU locker which _also_ has a copy of ghostscript in it. This is because
Aladdin (the current maintainers) and FSF each release their own ghostscript,
FSF's being several versions behind, because of licensing differences.
Please see http://web.mit.edu/ghostscript/ for more details.
To use this version of ghostscript by default, make sure the ghostscript locker
is in your $PATH before the gnu locker, or rely on /usr/athena/bin/gs
which invokes the ghostscript-locker version (athena 9.0 only).
The other commands in the locker, such as ps2pdf, have been modified so
they always invoke the correct gs binary so you can call them by absolute
path without worrying about your $PATH invoking the correct gs.
As always, please send comments and questions to ghostscript@mit.edu
