Version 2.4.5 of the fvwm window manager has been installed into
the windowmanagers locker. The new version has some
incompatibilities with user config files from v2.2 and so has
been installed as "fvwm2.4", to prevent people from running it
accidentally.
Among the advantages of fvwm2.4 are improved gnome support and
better dynamic re-configurability.
Among the disadvantages of fvwm2.4 are changes in the way its
config file handles buttons, deprecated config file options,
and an over-eager readiness to shriek "<<ERROR>>" at the user.
Fvwm has been installed as "fvwm2.4" in the windowmanagers
locker. "man fvwm2.4" will read the base man page; all other
man pages, system files, and modules are in the directory
/mit/windowmanagers/lib/X11/fvwm/2.4.5
If you have specific suggestions for modifications to the
system.fvwm2rc or to fvwm2 itself that would better integrate
fvwm2 with Athena (and Gnome), we'd be glad to hear them.
