I have installed release 2.0 of the freely distributable Visualization
Toolkit on Athena for SGIs. This is a set of libraries that allow
generation of 3d images that can be manipulated in many ways. It is
possible to build executables in C++ or Tcl/Tk applications that are
run by a driver program.

This new installation includes dynamic libraries, which will greatly reduce
the size of compiled C++ binaries.

The older 1.2 release will stay the Athena default until the end of the
current semester.

In order to use the libraries and run demos, you will need to add the
vtkit_v2.0 locker. See the file /mit/vtkit_v2.0/Athena/messages/upgradev2
for more detailed information.
