I think the decision your commission made is a bit hasty. How do you stop a
write-in from running? The idea behind a write-in candidate is that they
don't have to be on the ballot to run. I don't feel your commission has the
power to disqualify unofficial candidates, nor can it redirect votes for
write-in candidates to other candidates. I agree that buying votes is
wrong, but I don't think you can really knock off a write-in candidate.
