before the end of the day in which it was struck down, Weld (always big with the Church-and-state-and-Massachusetts-Catholic-vote) had introduced a replacement bill for consideration to the Mass. Legislature (so said the news report I saw). I'd be psyched to hear details in personal mail or some other, less depressed discuss meeting. :-)
