There's the flip side of the coin, of course.
If you're of the opinion that feelings are a win even if you suffer
tremendous emotional pain, you've probably got a masochistic streak :)
A little masochism isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I couldn't
countenence the amount one has to go through to end up with a working
relationship. That is, *if* you end up with one at all.
Some people can't live without the hope of having such a bond someday,
and for them, of course, any amount of pain is worth suffering through.
