Have there been any cross-cultural studies of the relative sex drives
of men and women?
On the one hand, young men in our culture get a lot more encouragement
to "sow their wild oats" than women do.
On the other hand, there does seem to be a correlation between serum
testosterone level and sex drive, and on average, men have more
testosterone than women.
(Back in the Bad Old Days, psychiatrists believed that gay men had
fewer "male hormones" than straight men, and tried to "cure" homo-
sexuality by giving gay men more testosterone. This technique only
*increased* their sexual desire for other men. Back to the drawing
board....)
