There... I think I got it.  Tomorrow both BackSpace and Delete
should be able to scroll backwards while viewing messages.

[[The reason I didn't notice that the backspace key changed
behavior is that a long time ago, I set my personal preferences
to fix this for my own usage.  It's always a bit of a judgement
call to decide how much of your own personal preferences you want
to program into the global defaults for a program, and I usually
try to leave programs as uncustomized as I can.

The way to set it for yourself only is, btw, to have a line in
your ~/.exmhbindings file:

    set bindings(key,Msg_PageUp) {<BackSpace> <Delete> <Prior> <F29>}

This can also be set in the Msg_PageUp field of the "Commands"
section of the main window's "Bindings..." menu.]]
