xmcd is a neat graphical interface to playing audio CDs.
I've installed xmcd 2.2 in the sipb locker for Solaris, Linux, and
NetBSD. I tried to configure it as generically as possible, although
it may not work with all the obscure hardware out there.
On Solaris, it needs to be able to run /usr/sbin/vold.
On Linux , the CD drive must be /dev/cdrom and world readable.
On NetBSD, the CD drive must be /dev/rcd0d and world readable.
It is currently configured to get CD information from
cddb.dartmouth.edu.
Of course, all these things can be configured in your dotfiles and
stuff.
Have a nice day,
Sal.
