the host explorer/ktelnet implementation includes a "time to send"
which changes dramatically as the blocks sent alternates between 0 and
the size of a single block.  I.e., 13 min, 7 secs.; 9 min, 29 secs.;
15 min, 19 secs.; etc.  There didn't seem to be a pattern to it,
although I can guess that this is really a result of taking the
remaining bytes to send and multiplying by some estimate of the speed
of the connection.  

I don't think this is significant.

I'll let you know the results of the other tests when I can.
