The SIPB locker has a very old version of dvips for at least the
i386_linux<n> and the i386_nbsd1 systems.
dvips should probably not be in the Sipb locker at all. It's not
there for any supported Athena platforms:
/mit/sipb% ls -l *bin/dvips
-rwxr-xr-x 1 yoav sys 102400 Mar 22 1995 inbsdbin/dvips
-rwxr-xr-x 1 svalente sys 91140 Oct 31 1993 linuxbin/dvips
-rwxr-xr-x 1 yandros sys 172032 Sep 23 1994 rtbin/dvips
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 97280 Jul 17 1993 vaxbin/dvips
The probem is that Tex and related stuff aren't part of Sipb-Athena
yet. Once dvips in /usr/athena/bin on those Linux and NetBSD, it will
be removed from /mit/sipb.
The same goes for TeX and LaTeX:
/mit/sipb% ls -l *bin/tex
lrwxr-xr-x inbsdbin/tex -> ../../../common/bin/tex.new
lrwxr-xr-x linuxbin/tex -> ../../../common/bin/tex.new
lrwxr-xr-x vaxbin/tex -> /usr/athena/bin/tex
Do people think "tex.new" should be in the Sipb locker? You can
simply "add newtex" if you want to use it...
If it should be in the Sipb locker, should it be installed for the
supported Athena platforms?
