xscreensaver change?

xscreensaver for inbsd was broken; it would quicky exit with
`Segmentation Fault (core dumped)'. It did this repeatably. I went
into the (empty) build tree and did `xmkmf; gmake' and the resulting
binary seemed to work. I moved the previous binary to
xscreensaver.old and installed the new binary, which seems to have
last changed on December 22 (well before the last time I ran
xscreensaver) on this machine.
Does anyone know what could have caused this?
