Subject: zmodem thinks Athena dialups are ok
Zmodem uploads to athena dialups have been failing ever since the
installation of kerberized telnetd. The workaround until now has been
to type "rlogin athena" at the CPT prompt. This turns out not to be
necessary.
Zmodem has an option called "escape ctrl characters", which you get by
invoking rz as "rz -e", or by clicking a checkbox in your comm program
(e.g. the zmodem options dialog in zterm). Enable this option and
everything works fine. Zmodem expects certain systems to behave as the
athena dialups now do, and has had this option at least since 1989.
The OLC stock answer "How to transfer files using X/Y/ZMODEM" should be
updated.
