One of the perople Calvin talked to was me.  I told him that he should
do it, and here's why:

o You weren't around.
o The programs were breaking, and users were noticing; I know; I was
  consulting at the time.
o It would get us through the crisis time.
o If he didn't do it, I would have; I was busier at the time.

Here's the reasons not to do it:

I'm surprised that you, of all people, set up SIPB programs in such a
way that they require things we don't provide, but I understand about
space restrictions.  Why you think what Calvin did was `wrong' or `out
of line' is completely beyond me, but I think that's pretty obvious.
In short, Jon, I think I'd need to hear some entries for the `Reasons
not to do it' field before I could do anything to support your
statements.
