The is sort of a tangent off of the wearing of letters discussion. Since
the academic year is drawing to a close, I thought it would be a good time
to bring this up.
Most colleges have a method to mark student records with membership in
student organizations. Here, at Trinity, Alpha Phi Omega is one of the
organizational memberships recorded by the Development office. This allows
future employers to verify college resumes and alumni associations to find
former members for reunions and such. As an Advisor of Delta Pi, I have
the Membership VP send a roster to the Development Office at the end of
each semester for proper recording. This is done only AFTER dues are paid
and pledges are accepted as actives.
If your college has such a service, I strongly urge you take advantage
of it. Your registrar should be able to direct you to the proper office to
have the records marked.
