We have a "Standing Rules Committee" that was originated about
a year ago. It is chaired by the Sgt. at Arms and has 3 members at
large to serve on it. These 3 members are elected into the committee.
They remain on the committee until they graduate, become an officer,
are voted out, or resign. Every motion that affects the bylaws has
to go through the committee before it is brought to the brotherhood.
They do not have veto power or anything, they just review it to make
sure it is consistent with our bylaws and policies. Then they give
recommendations to the originator of the motion and might give
recommendations to the brotherhood when/if the motion is being
discussed.
