Hopefully by now, everyone has had a chance to visit the new apo.org
<http://new.apo.org/> website and have explored things a bit. If not,
you should come out of your cave and surf on over there
<http://new.apo.org/> to have a look (and let me know what cave you've
been in; I enjoy spelunking ;-)!

Anyway, there's a few of the more interesting things to point out:

1. *Marketing Photo Contest
*The National Marketing Committee is conducting a photo contest to find
high quality photos to add to the website, as well as to use in
publications. They're looking for pictures of people doing things,
pictures that will convey a positive, dynamic image for the fraternity.
The direct link
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Marketing/Submit_Contest_Photo>
to the contest submission has more information on this contest (and the
prizes are /*really cool*/).

2. *Chapter Websites (another contest!)
*The National Media & Technology Committee is organizing (reinstating) a
contest to find the best Alpha Phi Omega websites. So now would be a
great time to update your chapter's website. Your website is a great
tool to share information not only with your members, but also with
people who are thinking about joining. M&T will be looking at them
sometime over the summer and early fall. Make sure that the dates and
contact info are accurate, and that the look is appealing. To make sure
we have the correct URL for your chapter's website, you can find the
list here <http://new.apo.org/show/Chapter_Resources/Chapter_List>:

3. *Service Project Database Enhancements
*Hopefully, your chapter is gearing up for Spring Youth Service Day
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Programs/Spring_Youth_Service_Day>
this month! The service project database
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Project_Database> has
been recently enhanced to improve the reporting experience, as well as
to assist you in finding
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Project_Database/Search>
potential service project ideas! There's now a Featured Service Project
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Featured_Service_Projects>
page which randomly selects one of a couple of the best project reports
submitted and displays the details. And we'll be looking at all the
reports coming in this year for the best ones to add to our, "Featured
Projects," list,... The database now also supports photos, so when
reporting
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Project_Database/Service_Project_Report_Form>
your project, the page immediately after you submit will direct you to
the photo upload page
<http://new.apo.org/show/Contacts_or_Submit_Info/Submit_Information/Torch_and_Trefoil/Photos>,
where you can send us a photo. The photo won't immediately be posted,
though, since we generally like to edit photos (crop them and reduce the
size to web-size) so our website visitors don't have to download the 2
MB plus file that you've sent us (though we really do appreciate
receiving large files, as the quality is higher and we can use them in
other things, like the T&T),...

4. *A few more secrets :-)
*There's a few more additional "secrets" of the website that are pretty
cool. Every member of APO can login to the site (see instructions below
the login on the page). By logging in, you have access to the national
membership directory, as well as some other useful things. For example,
if you look at the chapter list
<http://new.apo.org/show/Chapter_Resources/Chapter_List> when logged in,
you no longer see the "anti-spam" email form, and instead, can see the
actual email address, as well as their snail mail address, a list of
their service projects, and other interesting info. You'll see actual
email addresses in other areas of the site (such as the Region/Section
contact pages
<http://new.apo.org/show/Contacts_or_Submit_Info/Contact_Information/Regions>
as well as in the service project database
<http://new.apo.org/show/National_Programs/Service/Project_Database>) by
logging in, too.

Ok, hope this message wasn't too long,... I hope I've provided some
useful details on the site that will be useful for everyone,...

Cheers!
