Forgive me for using this medium, however most New Orleans-based forums are=20=
still down and this information is time-sensitive.
=20
I confirmed with UVA admissions that UVA will allow VIRGINIA RESIDENTS atten=
ding UNDERGRADUATE programs in New Orleans (they said TULANE, my alma mater,=
specifically, and "one or two other schools") to attend classes this semest=
er at UVA.
=20
Prospective students MUST:
=20
1) Contact UVA by TOMORROW, Friday, September 2, by 3 PM.
2) Attend an Orientation at UVA's Newcomb Hall on Sunday, September 4,=
at 2 pm.
3) Be ready to attend classes IMMEDIATELY, and
4) Must be currently ENROLLED at Tulane or one of a few other unspecif=
ied schools.
=20
Transferability of credits to be worked out later, and UVA Admissions believ=
ed that students would be required to pay tuition at in-state rates. Other=20=
Va. State Schools may follow suit, and may offer alternative payment arrange=
ments, but no additional information is available right now. Contact other=20=
state schools to see if similar programs are being instituted. Schools in m=
any other states are making similar arrangements for either their own reside=
nts or any enrolled Tulane student.
=20
If you have relatives or know of other Virginia RESIDENT undergrads attendin=
g college in New Orleans, you must contact UVA IMMEDIATELY at 434-924-0311,=20=
or undergraduateadmission@virginia.edu Students must be ready to begin atte=
nding classes NEXT WEEK.
=20
NOTE: I live in Staunton, 30 minutes from UVA, JMU, and Washington and Lee U=
. My wife and I will welcome some students to stay with us temporarily unti=
l other housing can be found, providing they have their own transportation.=20=
My outside-work contact information is greenwavemet@hotmail.com and 540-885=
-0603. We will also consider the long-term boarding of a displaced FAMILY,=20=
with proper ID and references, for as long as need be. =20
=20
Thank you and I apologize for the interruption. Please forward the informat=
ion as appropriate, especially to other state email strings.
