I would first check with the graduation committee to see if the school
allows graduation outfits to be "personalized" ... some schools may
have very specific requirements regarding what can and can't be worn
to graduation.
But I've known a lot of schools to allow all sorts of things worn by
graduates, and as long as it's done tastefully (no bright pink polka
dot gown with a bright yellow five foot wide sombrero), I think most
schools are pretty liberal about this stuff. Particularly with
graduate students that may have been a part of an organization while
an undergrad at a different school, and now there's no chapter at the
current school, they may still want to wear something from them at
graduation. It's almost the same as with letters; can you still wear
letters on a campus where there's no chapter? Of course you can!
Cheers!
