APO Brothers are notorious for over committing themselves. We've all given
each other pep talks on the ability to say no. But why is it so hard to
do? I couldn't resist sharing this article that addresses the issue with
all of you. Perhaps the findings won't be surprising to some. Essentially
the data suggest that we are poor evaluators of future time and always seem
to think there is more time in the future than there really is.

The first link is from a summary, press release type article that
summarizes the findings of the more technical article in the second
link. They links are from the current issues of American Psychologist and
Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, respectively.

So now we have an idea of why we do it, but it's still not going to be easy
to fix. Guess we all have many more "no" pep talks in our future.

Enjoy!

Chris
