<P>The National Media and Technology Committee of Alpha Phi Omega is currently recruiting volunteers within our membership (Active, Advisor, Honorary, and Alumni) to assist with a Document Translation Project, scheduled to begin May 1, 2004, and conclude no later than October 31, 2004. </P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Volunteers will be responsible for reviewing national documentation, translated by a software package from English into either French or Spanish. They will be responsible for reviewing the assigned document and making corrections to ensure proper reading and understanding of content by those reading it in the language of translation. Each translated document will be reviewed independently by two (2) volunteers for each language. Translated documentation will be distributed to prospective members as park of current activities in Puerto Rico, as well as supporting proposed extension activities in both the Caribbean and Canada (Quebec). Therefore, review will specifically focus on the dialect of Spanish used in Puerto Rico, and dialect of French used in Quebec. </P>
<P>Volunteers would need to be able to donate approximately 5 hours of time per month for the months of May to October, for a total of 30 hours over 6 months. Volunteers will be recognized for their participation. </P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>Volunteers should have fluent writing and speaking skills in Spanish and/or French, as well as the ability to critically review documents composed in English and electronically translated into Spanish and/or French. Critical review includes correcting translated documents for spelling, word choice, sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, grammar, and punctuation. Specific duties of volunteers will be determined between the project coordinator and the volunteer.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Members whose native language is either Spanish or French, especially with the desired dialects, are highly encouraged to participate. </P>
