okay not to monopolize everyones time but i would like
to get some advice on something eta eta is going
through right now.
Background: chapter reestablished 1 year ago with
previous brothers from before chapter vanished. these
brothers were graduate students and will be not be
around next year. there will only be 1 new brother
from the past 2 pledge classes that will be around
(she took this semester off but will be around and
very active next semester).
Currently there is a pledge class of 7 or 8 this
semester and a lof of them are very smart and outgoing
but the pledge program and the whole chapter does not
focus much on the fraterity aspect of apo
(big/littles, toast song, and overall brotherhood
bonding-type activities). right now it feels like the
group is simply a service organization. the pledges
have all expressed disinterest in the fraternity
aspect (and having to take quizzes) because they do
not see the worth or value in it. in their defense
the brotherhood isnt showing them the value or worth
in it either.
i worry that the pledges are not getting exposed to
the great aspects of apo that keep many active
semesters after they pledge and next semester when
they will be running the fraternity they will still
not see the worth in fraternal bonding.
In the chapters defense there are not even enough
brothers to hold every position and most actives are
older or graduate students and have already done
"their time" in apo.
my question is, how do i show the pledges how
important fraternity stuff/bonding is to get them
excited about next semester and implementing even more
fraternity related programs?
