Greetings all -
I am pleased to report that Alpha Phi Omega was represented at the
Camp Fire USA National Convention, held in Chicago last month.
Our relationship with Camp Fire USA is an important one. About 120
local Camp Fire councils provide a variety of co-ed of youth programs
for over 700,000 young people from infants through high school.
Many of the programs include community service and leadership
development, so the relationship is a good fit with Alpha Phi Omega.
Numerous APO chapters have participated in the annual Absolutely
Incredible Kid Day project sponsored by Camp Fire, and several
other chapters provide service to local Camp Fire councils in other
ways.
The Fraternity was represented at the convention by Scott Begin
(Region 6 Scouting and Youth Service Chair), Jim Hahn (Nat'l LD
Committee), Jeremy Bingman (Section 51 Chair), and Dave
O'Leary (S&YS Committee Chair).
Lee Peters is our liaison to Camp Fire USA. If you have any
questions about how your chapter can contact and work with
your local Camp Fire USA council, please contact Lee at
<dlpeters.1@netzero.net> or me. Unfortunately, Camp Fire
does not have presence everywhere in the country. Their
programs do vary from place to place so it is important to
be flexible in planning to work with them.
Some background information on Camp Fire USA and their
programs is available on our national web page here:
http://www.apo.org/programs/scouting_youth/resources.shtml
and from the Camp Fire USA web page:

To determine what Camp Fire USA councils are in your state, please
use the locator page here:

Thanks for all the service that you do for the young people of our
country and the world!
