My feeling is this: the chapter CAN afford to take the loss in food money
every once in a while; it's not much as long as it's not done too often.
Often, this is more difficult for brothers to afford. The money the chapter
has is not just for a rainy day. If it can be used to prevent a disservice
to the members of the chapter, at least to a reasonable extent, I think
it's fine for it to be used for that, as long as we make a decision to do it.
It could be an executive discretionary thing, or if it's non-perishables that
go into the food storage, the chapter food account can take up the slack.
If someone wants to buy it off the chapter, then all the better.
