actually doing the -q option does not help at all.
It still wants to look at /mit/emacs19/....
at jhawk's suggestion i added the following to my
.emacs: (setq ispell-program-name "/usr/athena/bin/ispell")
this causes it to load up ispell. however after it does so
it says that ispell exited with status 1.
I think that jhwak reproduced this error, so indications
are that it is not my .emacs file ...
