Well, it turns out that I lied to you. When I run the binary with the
-q flag, ispell-program is set to /mit/emacs19/bin/ispell.gnu, and
that string seems to be compiled into the binary. This leads me to
believe:
1) that emacs wasn't quite correctly built (this should be ok)
2) emacs isn't reading in it's defaults.el file correctly (this
isn't ok)
