Hi,
According to http://java.sun.com/sfaq/, applets can read/write files if you
set the environment variable acl.read=read_file and acl.write=write_file
in you $HOME/.hotjava/properties file. This is only true for the appletviewer
not Netscape. I have not tested this out yet. Did anybody try?
