aras (Sheldon Robinson):

Oh life is bigger
it's bigger than you and you are not me
the lengths that I will go to
the distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much.
I set it up.

That's me in the corner.
That's me in the spotlight losing my religion
trying to keep a view
and I don't know if I can do it.
Oh no, I've said too much.
I haven't said enough.

I thought that I heard you laughing.
I thought that I heard you sing.
I think I thought I saw you try.

Every whisper
every waking hour I'm chosing my confessions
trying to keep eye on you
like a hurt lost and blinded bowl full
Oh no, I've said too much.
I set it up.

Consider this
consider this the hint of the century.
Consider this, this will that brought me to my knees
still what if all these fantasies come flaming around.
Now I've said
too much.

I thought that I heard you laughing.
I thought that I heard you sing.
I think I thought I saw you try.

But that was just a dream.
That was just a dream.

That's me in the corner.
That's me in the spotlight losing my religion
trying to keep a view
and I don't know if I can do it.
Oh no, I said too much.
I haven't said enough.

I thought that I heard you laughing.
I thought that I heard you sing.
I think I thought I saw you try.

But that was just a dream.
Try, cry, bye, try.
That was just a dream, just a dream
just a dream, dream.

Livin' in time,
And feeling every moment...

...what will the future bring,
I wonder, what will the future bring?
How will it all unfold,
I wish I knew.

Can love grow with distance?
Or does distance only follow itself?

No eyes, no face, no silent touch
can bridge these thousand miles.

An Evaluation of Land Modelling and Rendering Graphics Applications
     -------------------------------------------------------------------

Three important issues:

1) Generating a digital terrain model of Lebanon
	A) What are the starting materials?
Resources include a contour map (topographical) and
	    possibly satellite images.
	B) Scan in the topographical map or use the satellite image.
We might need a separate program to generate an ASCII
text file of the x,y,z-coordinates of the contours.
Many experts in the field say that scanners don't
usually generate the most accurate images. However,
I think AUB will be happy if the 3-D model is a
reasonable representation of Lebanon (as opposed to
	    a precise one).

	C) Need to create a wireframe model and then render
it. We might need to use separate programs for
	    modelling and for rendering.
Once we've obtained a DTM we've satisfied the
basic requirement. However, I suspect that AUB
is interested in GIS because they want to display
several layers of information within the 3-D model
(e.g., location of rivers, ground-water level,
	    average rainfall, demographics, etc.)

2) Creating a fly-through navigation of the DTM
We will probably use an animation package to
	accomplish this.

3) Presentation of the graphics on an IBM PC or a Mac
The hope is that we can run the animation from the
hard disk of an IBM PC or a Mac (hopefully
without the need to store the complete graphics
package on the delivery station. If we can't
run the animation off of the hard disk then we'll
need to output the animation to a videotape.
We will need to be able to control the animation
from within an authoring environment such as ToolBook.

Life, like chess, has winners and losers. Still, the game ends for both players.

_- -_- -_ My philosophy, more or less:

``
Q: Why are we here?
A: Because we can be here.
Q: Why can we be here?
A: Well, the laws of the Universe are just right to permit it.
Q: Why?
A: Well, you wouldn't be here to ask me that if they weren't.
Q: True. But I'm not really satisfied with that. How does God and Soul
    come into it?
A: Well, God doesn't seem to have a hell of a lot to do with anything.
And as for the soul, well, people seem to like the idea, but there's
no reason to believe there is such a thing.
Q: So what's our purpose? On Earth, I mean, in the Universe?
A: Purpose? That never really enters into the picture. You're just
asking why we're here in another way. And the only reason is that
it is possible for us to be. Listen, if you mix up a whole bunch
of cow manure in a pot and let it sit there and simmer for five
billion years, you may be surprised to find an advanced civilization
has developed out of the cow manure. Moreover, the civilization is
no less grand for its humble origins. In fact, it is grander.
Q: I'm going to have to think about this.
''

(I wrote this myself, so don't tell me it's stupid. I'd be hurt. :-)

therese (Therese):

Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
        People.
People important to you, people unimportant to you cross your
life. Touch it with love and carelessness and move on.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief
and wonder why you ever came into contact with them.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of remorse
and wonder why they had to go away and leave such a gaping hole.
Children leave parents; friends leave friends, acquaintances
          grow apart.
        Enemies hate and move on.
        Friends love and move on.
You think of the many who have moved into your hazy memory.
You look on those present and wonder.
I believe in God's master plan in life. He moves people in and
out of each other's lives, and each leaves his mark on the
other. You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who
ever touched your life, and you are more because of it, and you
would be less if they had not touched you.
Pray to God that you accept the bits and pieces, in humility and
wonder, and never question and never regret.
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
