aras (Sheldon Robinson):

An old lady:

i know an old lady who swallowed a fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
she swallowed the spider to catch the fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a bird
now how absurd to swallow a bird
she swallowed the bird to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
she swallowed the spider to catch the fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a cat
fancy that to swallow a cat
she swallowed the cat to catch the bird
now how absurd to swallow a bird
she swallowed the bird to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
she swallowed the spider to catch the fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a dog
she's such a hog to swallow a dog
she swallowed the dog to catch the cat
now fancy that to swallow a cat
she swallowed the cat to catch the bird
and how absurd to swallow a bird
she swallowed the bird to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
she swallowed the spider to catch the fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a goat
just opened up and slid down her throat
she swallowed the goat to catch the dog
she's such a hog...she swallowed a dog
she swallowed the dog to catch the cat
now fancy that to swallow a cat
she swallowed the cat to catch the bird
and so absurd to swallow a bird
she swallowed the bird to catch the spider
that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
she swallowed the spider to catch the fly
but i don't know why she swallowed the fly
i guess she'll die

i know an old lady who swallowed a horse
she's dead of course

Comfort:

hello.
is there anybody in there
just nod if you can hear me
is there anyone home

come on, yow
i hear you're feeling down
well, i can ease your pain
get you on your feet again

relax
i need some information first
just the basic facts
can you show me where it hurts

there is no pain you are receding
a distant ship smoke on the horizon
you are only coming through in waves
your lips move, but i can't hear what you're saying

when i was a child, i had a fever
my hands felt just like two balloons
now i've got that feeling once again
i can't explain, you would not understand
this is not how i am. i have become
comfortably numb

okay
it's just a little pin prick
they'll be no more...aaaaaaaaaah
but you may feel a little sick.

can you stand up
i do believe it's working, good
that'll keep you going for the show
come on it's time to go

there is no pain, you are receding
a distant ship smoke on the horizon
you are only coming through in waves
your lips move, but i can't hear what you're saying

when i was a child, i had a fleeting glimpse
out of the corner of my eye
i turned to look but it was gone
i cannot put my finger on it now
the child is grown, the dream is gone
i have become
comfortably numb

Life:

breath, breath in the air
don't be afraid to care
leave but don't leave me
look around and choose your own ground

for long you live and high you fly
smiles you give and tears you'll cry
all you touch and all you see
is all your life will ever be

run, rabbit run
dig that hole. forget the sun
when at last the work is done
don't sit down. it's time to dig another one

for long you live and high you fly
but only if you ride the tide
balanced on the biggest wave
you race toward an early grave

You:

hey you, out there in the cold
getting lonely getting old
can you feel me
hey you, standing in the isle
with itchy feet and fading smile
can you feel me
hey you, don't help them to bury the lives
don't give in without a fight

hey you, out there on your own
sitting naked by the phone
will you touch me
hey you, with your ear against the wall
will you force someone to call
out, will you touch me
hey you, would you help me to carry the stone
open your heart, i'm coming home

but it was only fantasy
the wall was to hide 'cause you can't see
no matter how he tried he could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain

hey you! out there on your own
always doing what your told
can you help me
hey you! out there beyond the wall
breaking bottles in their halls
can you help me
hey you! don't tell me to go home alone
together we stand, divided we fall...

From: Jon Pugh <jpugh@apple.com>
Subject: Insidious PowerBook Infiltration

As one might expect, PowerBooks are appearing everywhere on the Apple campus.
The company has decided that since they cannot afford to buy everyone a
PowerBook, they would offer a great deal through the company store and let
employees buy them for themselves cheap. This means that a lot of people
are carrying around their own PowerBooks at work. With the ease of theft,
many people are reluctant to set them down. Considering this fear and the
ever present desire to work, an employee was recently sighted taking his
PowerBook into the bathroom stall. You decide why. ;)

Companionship, partnership, mutual reassurance, someone to laugh with
and grieve with, loyalty that accepts foibles, someone to touch, someone
to hold your hand -- these things are "marriage," and sex is but the
icing on the cake. (Lazarus Long)
