So, let me get this straight.... he believes ca is a violation of users'
privacy, but he still wants to be in the ca database? Right....
And what's this about protected speech? Central America already has
pre-programmed limits about the length of a .plan file and the fact that
it must be ascii text, and can't be a block special device, etc. Given
that the program is making "editorial" statements already, it would seem
that Central America exists for the pleasure of the people who read it,
not as a free publishing press for people who want to make political
statements.
I am beginning to agree with a recent essay in Time magazine about how
the U.S.'s obsession with "rights" can be very destructive at worst, and
misguided at best. Not all controversies can or should be cast in terms
of one person's "unalienable rights" versus another person's
"unalienable rights". A women's "right to choose to have an abortion";
a fetus's "right to live"; a poor person's "right to medical care".
Most things aren't black and white.
