Actually, most of the streets around MIT are in abysmally bad shape.
Albany Street is particularly bad, especially West of Mass. Ave.  (I
think Cambridge Tire was particularly smart to locate at the end of it.)
But remember, Cambridge doesn't maintain anything around MIT if it can
help it--note that Vassar and Albany Streets aren't even on the city's
street cleaning schedule.

I've never thought the roads around here were all that bad.  Of course,
I'm from New York where a typical two-lane road has worse pavement,
sharper curves, and (unless otherwise posted) a fifteen-mile-per-hour
higher speed limit.  Then again, if I wanted to see some *really* bad
roads, I could always travel ten miles South into Pennsylvania.
